Matchmaker Week: Learning Day

Through 2021, corporations and government agencies are leaning on supplier diversity strategies to help support competitiveness, equity, and resiliency in economic recovery efforts. So the first day of GSBA’s Matchmaker Week will kick off with an in-depth exploration of the world of supplier diversity and how you can get your foot in the door. You’ll learn about the power of business certification, why diverse and minority-owned businesses are prioritized, what government and corporate entities look for in potential contractors, and more.
What to Expect
- Listen in as J. Manny Santiago, Executive Director of the Washington State LGBTQ Commission, talks about ongoing efforts to have the State of Washington recognize LGBTQ-certified businesses
- Hear from Marti Hoffer, Founder & CEO of lumenomics inc, who first pitched at the GSBA Matchmaker in 2019 and went on to win the LGBT Biz Pitch Competition on the international stage during the NGLCC International Business & Leadership Conference in Tampa later that year, as well as from business pitch expert Roby Schapira, Small Business Leader, Sr. VP at Wells Fargo.
- Learn about the nuances of supplier diversity during a panel discussion led by James Hing, Global Sourcing & Supplier Relations at Starbucks, and including Janice Green, President & CEO of the Women’s Business Enterprise Council – Pacific, and Fernando Martinez, President & CEO at Northwest Minority Supplier Development Council.
