The juried competition attracted emerging artists from around the Seattle area to exhibit in a cultural context. Featuring William Garza, Rodolfo Garza, Laura Grover, Hugo Moro, Sylvia Kurin, Beth McBeth Perez, Diana Scheel, and Angie Hinojos Yusef.

We are honored to have this exhibit juried two distinguished Seattle-based artists Alfredo Arreguín and Juan Alonso-Rodrígues.

Alfredo Arreguín is an internationally renowned artist and recipient of an OHTLI Award, the Mexican government’s highest recognition of distinguished individuals who contribute to promote Mexican culture abroad. His artworks are in the Smithsonian’s permanent collections at the National Museum of American Art and the National Portrait Gallery. His works are represented throughout the U.S. and Mexico.  (alfredoarreguin.com)

Juan Alonso-Rodríguez is a Seattle Arts Commissioner and a vital advocate for emerging artists throughout the Pacific northwest.  His works are included in permanent collections at the Tacoma Art Museum, Portland Art Museum, Museum of Northwest Art, Microsoft, Swedish & Harborview Hospitals and General Mills.  Juan has also created public artworks for Century Link Field, SeaTac International Airport, King County Housing Authority, Sound Transit’s Light Rail, and local school campuses.  (juanalonsostudio.com)

Additional public events include a Cultural Mixer on April 13 at Kenmore City Hall.  This inclusivity event is opportunity for Latino businesses, vendors, non-profits, local schools, foodies and entertainers to promote your purpose and gain exposure on the northside.

Cinco de Mayo!  Fiesta is open to the public at Kenmore’s Town Square on May 5.  Activities will include Salsa dancing, children’s art activities, food trucks, history presentation and entertainment.
