We raised awareness of DEI at the Bothell Kenmore Business alliance chamber of commerce.

The Spot Light provided a 7 min presentation and networking with local businesses in Kenmore and Bothell area also explained the value of Diversity Equity and Inclusion in Business.

The goal is set in the ground and the various opportunities to foment multicultural awareness, DEI enrichment for future planning. BizDiversity expects to return next year.

A Culture Mixture: The Inclusionist Business

The event went as planned and businesses took away a cultural mixture of interested people in the region who’s companies, organizations and institutions had develop a high level of cultural intelligence, they have attained the skills to better connect with communities who are from a variety of different groups in terms of ethnicity, age, religion, economic background, and sexual orientation in DEI spectrum.
Inclusionist Business – Cultural Mixture was an opportunity to network and grow in cultural differentiation with fellow BizDiversity members and sponsors.

BizDiversity for Cultural Mixture: The Inclusionist Business                   took place on Tuesday, April 13th at the Kenmore City Hall in Kenmore, Washington between 3:30p.m. and 8:00p.m.
Cinco De Mayo took place on Saturday, May 5th at the Kenmore hANGAR in Kenmore, Washington between 3:30p.m. and 8:00p.m.

The Cinco De Mayo event was free to the public and will took place on Saturday, May 5, 2018 from 3p.m. – 8p.m. at the Kenmore Town Square and Hangar. BizDiversity recently partnered with the Arts of Kenmore Gallery at Kenmore City Hall, to produce an exhibit with culturally interpretive artworks for nine local artists representing Hispanic and Latino heritage. The exhibit was curated to enrich and engage our growing Northshore community and juried by world-renowned artist Alfredo Arreguín (alfredoarreguin.com), and Seattle Arts Commissioner, Juan Alonso-Rodríguez (juanalonsostudio.com. Exhibit runs March 2 through May 24.

Kenmore has one of the fastest growing Latino populations in the Pacific Northwest and sponsoring such events presents new outreach opportunities to businesses.

The event took place at the Mobias Hall in Cascadia College located Bothel, WA on June 19th.

Activities included food sampling, wines sampling, exchanging information about
services and making many new connections.

The Juanita Neighborhood association sponsored the annual free Welcome to Juanita event on September 15th at the Edith Moulton Park in Kirkland. The event encouraged action on set of principles to build inclusive, welcoming communities that allow all residents to thrive and advance integration efforts in three core areas: civic, economic, and linguistic integration and was part of broader Welcoming Week.

The event was held at the Burien Library in Burien on October 13th.

Other participating partners included Venures, Centro De La Raza Empresarios del Futuro, Craft3, Bizdiversity, Start Zone, Pacific Capital Resource Group, WayFind, Colectiva legal del Pueblo, Washington DECA, 501 Commons and the KCLS Nonprofit & Philanthropy Resource Center

The panel discussions were inspirational! The following workshop panelists: Roxana Pardo, Amy Hollander and Carmen from Ventures, and Liliana Paredes and Lulú from Centro de la Raza did an exceptional job.

Many also took the opportunity to participate in the 1-minute “elevator” speech describing their small business to the audience, which was a real highlight!

Washington DECA Fall Leadership Conference

Bellevue, WA

BizDiversity along with a number of non-profit and other exhibitors took part in a successful event The event took place at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Bellevue, WA on October 29th.

The Fall Leadership Conference (FLC) provided a hands-on experience to familiarize students with DECA and to generate momentum leading into their DECA year. Students attended a wide variety of dynamic breakout sessions led by key business professionals, DECA advisors, and Washington DECA staff. They also had an opportunity to practice their knowledge and skills during Mock Competition and a Mock (job) Interview.
