“Healing of the world’s woes will not come through this or that social or political theory; not through violent changes in government, but in the still small voice that speaks to the conscience and the heart.” — Arthur J Moore, D.D.

How often do you take time to listen to that still small voice? How might your day be changed if you took time to listen right now? What insights or solutions might you gain?

As we listen to the political debates it doesn’t take much to realize there’s a real difference in the social and political theories being espoused. Unfortunately, I hear frequently from people in their 20’s and 30’s that it really doesn’t make any difference who gets into office. For them, all politicians are alike: they all lie and will say anything to gain money, power, and prestige. What I hear is a sense of hopelessness / despair, a sense of powerlessness over their own lives or to make a real change in the world around them. This is often followed by anger and frustration.

Ever feel like that? Do you wonder where the power to change or the power to create change really comes from? Listen. Create a quiet time in your busy schedule to listen. During that quiet time let go of your problems, relinquish your right to worry. What has worry gotten you anyway? All the major religions of the world advocate quiet time. All the personal power guru’s advocate quiet time. Take time to contemplate the divine, to listen to that still small voice. Remember Mahatma Gandhi? He changed the whole of India and the British Empire. And he said, “Be the change you want to see in the world.”

Create your own quiet time. Notice what happens. You’ll be glad you did.
